It is amazing how quickly I have become accustomed to the noise of the city.  There is constant honking from all kinds of vechicles that starts around 7am and ends some time late in the evening.  The first day we were here the honking did not stop until after 2am because it was New Year's Eve.  Other noises include the Muslim call to prayer 5 times a day, street food vendors calling out as they walk down the streets pushing large carts, the constant sounds of birds throughout the day (including pigeons which are roosting in the large eaves of our apartment building), and of course the sounds of people are everywhere in this densely populated city.

We continued touring the city with our tuktuk driver, Srinivasa, from yesterday.  He has been extremely helpful and happy to show us the sights of Bangalore.  He is 35 years old and has a son that is the same age as William.  I could see the joy in his eyes when he complimented me on having 3 sons.  He took us to a Hindu Temple today and was extremely suprised it was the first time we had ever been in a Hindu Temple (for pictures see Kevin's blog: www.kevingoes2india.blogspot.ca)

Hi Nancy, how is everyone feeling, are the kids eating better?
Is there much green space for the kids to play or playgrounds?

  4. Yes! The constant noise in large cities overseas is amazing! I surprisingly find the calls to prayer comforting...something constant in a place that's unfamiliar and changing. Not that we hear that in Canada, yet a "normal" there.....maybe like how we're used to hearing the sounds of saws and hammers from growing up! Glad you guys are having a great time! The pictures are amazing.

PS: I tried reading Rowan's blog....ummm....my french seams to have deteriorated over the past 16 years (yikes)!
