Goa

We arrived in Goa after dark on Sat. It was lovely and warm after being in the airport and airplane that were airconditioned. It felt so cold on the plane, I wrapped myself up in Blair's fleece blanket with bright blue dolphins on it!

We spent the day on the beach on Sunday. The Arabian Sea is beautiful and warm! We all played in the waves and the kids played in the sand for hours. They even played in the sand while Kevin and I lingered over a beer after dinner. We ate at one of the beach shacks - a make shift restaurant where you sit at tables and chairs right in the sand. It will be the last time we eat at one of those as most of us suffered some gastrointestinal repercussions.
Before that meal, we had been in fairly good health. It took me a while to adjust to the time zone. I finally started sleeping after 3am two nights ago. Blair has been hit the hardest with the jet lag (wanting to sleep a lot) and he has not been eating very much. We pretty much force fed him at dinner a few nights ago because we were getting a little concerned. He is so skinny already, he can't afford loose any more weight. Today, we found a market in Margao (15 minutes inland by taxi) where we could buy chicken, vegetables, bread, milk, noodles, rice, nuts and raisins. We made the blandest meal ever (chicken, noodles and boiled carrots - no sauces, spices, etc.) for dinner and Blair ate as much as I did! It was wonderful to see him enjoying food again.

  1. So glad to hear that Blair at a full meal! The pictures are great. What an amazing beach! I think you'll have a lot of fun there for the next few days. Do take care. We think about you every day and I constantly check for updates. Thanks for sharing. XXXXX

  3. How far north of Colva Beach are you - i think only a scooter ride away? In Shantaram, that is where he escaped to when he went down to Goa. Would love for you to head down to Colva Beach and Benaulim - you could check out Xavier's where we used to stay (right on the beach) and you could eat at our favorite restaurant - Anthy's!

We love the blog - keep it coming.

    1. Hi Darryl! We have not made it to Colva... After going into Margao and up to Old Goa (which were great) we decided the beach is the place to be in the heat. We are on Sunset beach which is just a short walk north of Betalbatim. We have walked to both Betalbatim and Majorda from here. We have not rented scooters although I wish we could, be a great way to get around and have more independence. I can't quite picture how William would do...he keeps falling asleep every time we are in a taxi :)
